True Colors

Now, here's another awesome transformation! See Dr. Bruce Banner change into the green mighty muscled giant, The Incredible Hulk!

And he is indeed INCREDIBLE in so many ways, his enormous strengths, his green skin, and his ability to leap into the air!

But, perhaps the most incredible thing of all is that a brilliant and dignified scientist like Dr. Banner would wear purple pants!

But green skin and purple pants aside, in its prime, The Incredible Hulk comic books had some of the most profound storylines you can find!

In the panels above, we see Bruce Banner's long time romantic interest, Betty Ross, dealing with the pain of being in love with The Incredible Hulk!

And just like with the Thing, there was a cool Hulk Mego action figure created in the 70's!

In case you haven't guessed by now, the monstrous super heroes are my favorites!

One Of My Things

Above is one of my favorite toys, the Mego action figure of the Thing!

Things Fall Apart

The Thing started out as a very angry character (and for good reason), but in later issues, he mellowed into a humorous and good natured fellow. This was due in large part to his romantic relationship with the blind sculptress, Alicia Masters. Alicia seemed to have a very calming effect on him.

Well...most of the time anyway!

One of the Good Guys

The Thing sure had a right to be angry, but don't let his fury fool you, from the very first issue, he was a hero in every sense of the word!

Sue Storm may have been Reed Richard's girl, but the Thing is the one she should thank this time around!

Cosmic Rays Changed Him

I love how the third panel emphasizes his transformation in mid stream! Note how his hair starts to vanish, his lips enlarge, and orange traces start to show!

While the other FF members could turn their powers on and off at will, poor Ben Grimm could not change back and had to be the Thing all the time! (A fact that none of the other team members seemed particularly concerned about in this first issue).

He tried to tell them.

So, here he is, Ben Grimm before he became the Thing. He was the only one who had enough sense to realize the dangers of the mission, but is manipulated, against his professional judgment, into piloting the ship all because of one word: "COWARD!"

Well, he hardly looked like a coward when he saved her life later in the story!

If you ask me, Sue Storm was as much to blame as Reed Richards!

Anyway, that's my take on the Fantastic Four and the Thing for now! I'll be blogging more about them later along with much more! Stay tuned!

Welcome To My World

Hello, I'm G.B. I have numerous interests and passions, thus I've created this Blog to talk about ALL of my obsessions! :-)

Let's start off with one of my big obsessions: Comic Books! And we'll begin with one of my very favorite comic books: bigThe Fantastic Four!

It's the story of a brilliant scientist (Reed Richards), his best friend (Ben Grimm), the woman he loved (Sue Storm), and her hot tempered kid brother (Johnny Storm) who take a rocket ship into space, encounter cosmic rays and become the super hero team of Mr. Fantastic, The Thing, The Invisible Girl, and The Human Torch!

And while we're on the subject of the Fantastic Four, we'll just focus on my favorite FF member and super hero, The Thing, also known as Ben Grimm, famous for his phrase, "It's clobberin time!"

All this and TOYS too!

This blog is for everything I love in addition to toys!
